Araghchi calls Iran-Lebanon ties friendly
TEHRAN – In a press conference in Beirut on Friday afternoon, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi described Iran and Lebanon as two friendly nations that have been enjoying historical ties.
“Iran and Lebanon are two friendly states with historical ties,” Araghchi said at the end of his meeting with top Lebanese officials.
While in Lebanon, Araghchi held talks with his Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Rajji, President Joseph Aoun, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, and Parliament speaker Nabih Berri.
The Iranian foreign minister called his talks with Rajji “good and constructive”.
Araghchi also said Omani Foreign Minister Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi was making a pre-planned visit Tehran on Saturday. However, he said it is not still clear if the Omani chief diplomat was carrying a message to Tehran.
Oman has been acting as an intermediary between Iran and the United States over a number of issues.
